Chenin Blanc - This is one of the oldest types of grapes grown over the area of Loire Valley in France. Today, this type of grape is widely grown in California where it is mostly used in jug wines or sometimes in inexpensive table wines. Generally, Chenin Blanc is light and fruity on the taste buds.

Sauvignon Blanc or Fume Blanc - This is mostly grown around the areas of Loire and Bordeaux regions in France and also in California, New Zealand and even in some parts in South Africa. It is very well-known for its light and crisp, acidic taste. It normally has an herbal character, smelling like bell pepper or a newly mown grass. It is best served with a mixture of Semillion from France.
