Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

This resort is Disney’s answer to those who want a Walt Disney World and a beach vacation together in the same place. A large, sprawling, moderate resort, the Caribbean Beach Resort is a great place for vacationers to be close to all Disney has to offer and for them to relax and unwind in their own tropical paradise.

The resort’s 2,112 rooms are divided among six villages: Jamaica, Barbados, Martinique, Aruba, South Trinidad and North Trinidad. The brightly colored walls and roofs of the villages’ buildings are reminiscent of each country’s colors, and the lush, tropical foliage found throughout gives the resort a real Caribbean feel. The Caribbean Beach Resort is considered a moderate resort, and therefore is priced between Disney’s value and deluxe resorts.

Each room is 340 square feet, which is said to be the largest area of any Disney moderate resort. Refrigerators are included with each room, as is a choice of one king bed or two double beds. There are some options for Disney-goers concerning rooms at this resort including Finding Nemo-themed rooms; rooms with a pirate (think Pirates of the Caribbean) theme are available for extra per-night charges. Also, guests can request water-view rooms if they desire. Preferred rooms, which translate into rooms that are closest to Old Port Royale, the resort’s hub, are located in Trinidad North and Martinique.

There are no shortages of activities to be had at Caribbean Beach. First off, the resort has its own island - Caribbean Cay - which offers areas for relaxing and picnics as well as fishing tours for adults and Pirate Adventure Cruises for kids ages 4-12. The resort also has a white-sanded beach just made for strolling or relaxing. While there is no swimming in the bay right off of the beach, there is a quiet pool located in each village plus one huge theme pool complete with a water slide, water falls, cannons, a hot tub and a wading pool for the kiddos. Bikes and boats are also available for rent.

For dining, the resort offers a sit-down/ table-service restaurant called Shutters as well as the Market Street food court. In-room pizza delivery comes courtesy of Bluerunner’s, and the Banana Cabana offers up various drinks poolside.

As always, staying at a Disney resort has its perks. Extra hours at various parks are offered to resort guests as well as continuous bus transportation to all Disney parks.
