Disney's Contemporary Resort

When visiting Walt Disney World, staying close to the heart of it all is a great option for many Disney vacationers. The Contemporary Resort is designed with this in mind. One of Disney’s deluxe resorts, guests can find themselves close to the action while seemingly miles away from the ordinary.

There are a total of 750 rooms in the Contemporary. Standard, deluxe, suites and concierge-level rooms are all available; standard rooms will cost the least for guests, and prices rise from there based on a room’s location, views and size. Rooms can be found in both the fourteen-story tower and Garden Wing, with each location offering advantages. The tower keeps guests close to shopping, dining and transportation and offers rooms with great views and balconies. On the other hand, the Garden Wing gives guests close access to the resort’s beach, marina and pool. Regardless of where you stay, every room comes equipped with a refrigerator, in-room coffeemaker, small safe and iron/ ironing board.

The Contemporary offers up magic of its own with its many activities. One large pool, complete with a bulls-eye design, is open for all guests; to take advantage of the poolside cabanas, plan to ahead to reserve and budget in their extra charge. Guests can also rent a pontoon, Montauk or Sea Raycer to navigate the waters of Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. Parasailing, water skiing and fishing are options as well for Contemporary Guests. For those wanting to keep in shape, there is the well-equipped Olympiad Fitness Center. Spa services are available for guests as well.

When ready to eat, guests can partake in any of the resorts numerous dining options. With three sit-down restaurants, two counter-service spots, a coffee bar and a completely separate bar/ lounge, vacationers have many choices. Highlights include Chef Mickey’s, which offers character dining, and the popular California Grill which is located at the resort’s top floor.

Shopping lovers will enjoy the Contemporary’s three stores. Concourse Sundries is a place to grab vacation basics while those hunting for Disney souvenirs can try Fantasia. For more upscale bounty, Bayview Gifts has a variety of clothing, home décor and unusual souvenirs.

As always, being a guest of a Disney resort has the advantages of extra park hours and Disney transportation. While the Contemporary is within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom, perhaps the coolest feature of the hotel is the monorail which comes right through the center of the resort. The fourth floor boasts a Grand Station for guests to board the monorail. Guests can also catch a boat to Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

Staying at the Contemporary is certainly a unique, one-of-a-kind experience for Disney guests.
